A Quote…
Had I not created my own world, I would certainly have died in other people’s
Anais Nin
It’s so easy for us to get caught up in the ‘ought’s’ and ‘should’s’ of what we’re told our lives should look like, feel like or what I life should be ‘about’. What counts and what doesn’t. What we should aspire to or aim for. They’re seductive and we all want to feel like we fit in…somewhere !
It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison and the concept of ‘destination happiness (I’ll be happy when….) It seems second nature to compare ourselves with others, who we are, what we’re doing and particularly what we have and what we look like. We compare ourselves and our lives with other people and the lives they have created for themselves.
But no-one can else can live the life we are here to experience. And maybe the brave thing to do is to get to know ourselves as best we can, especially the bits of ourselves that we don’t ‘like’ so much. We can try and get as comfortable with ourselves as possible and trust, that the people and the things that are meant to be in our lives, will find us. We can show up as we are and live brave and curious lives. Be as curious about what’s on the inside as much as what’s on the outside. Be the creator of our own world, where we can grow and thrive.
Why not journal about what this means to you?
